SLSBC Craig Forster Lifetime Achievement Award

Now in its fifth year, the Sustainable Building Conference has established itself as an influential forum for driving private and public development in a more sustainable direction. We realize this event would not be possible without the commanding force of innovative leaders in our community. For this very reason, the Craig Forster Lifetime Achievement Award was created last year to honor those in our community that have played pivotal roles in advancing sustainability.

The first Lifetime Achievement Award was named after, and given posthumously to Dr. Craig Forster. As Director of the Office of Sustainability at the University of Utah, Dr. Forster bridged gaps between environmental science and public policy. He was dedicated to exploring the interface between social institutions and the natural environment. Originally trained as a hydrogeologist, Dr. Forster spent almost three decades studying and modeling groundwater flow, petroleum migration/production, carbon dioxide sequestration, solute transport and heat transfer in geologic systems. He co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in this arena. He will best be remembered as a passionate steward of mother earth, living in ways that provided practical examples of how to create a healthier environment for future generations.

We are currently accepting nominations for the 2010 Craig Forster Lifetime Achievement Award. Fill out the 2010 CFLAA nomination form and email it to Bridget.Stuchly@slcgov.com. All nominations are due by January 31st, 2010.
